How to Participate

1. Register. Visit one of the Timmins Public Library branches or one of the EarlyON Centres and fill out the registration form. Every child will receive an early literacy kit featuring tools to help them successfully start their reading journey.

2. Track Your Reading. There are two ways to keep track of your reading progress. You can keep track on paper, using the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading log or you can keep track online using the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten App. If you read the same story ten times, record it ten times. Repetition is part of the learning process.

3. Show us Your Reading Log. Visit one of the Timmins Public Library branches or one of the EarlyON Centres when you reach 300, 600 and 1000 book milestones. At each recorded milestone, the child will receive a special surprise from our treasure chest.

4. Read More Books! - When you reach 1000 books, your child will be invited to a special ceremony celebrating your child’s amazing achievement!

5. Join us at our Lunch, Learn, and Literacy Group. There will be bi-monthly meet-ups for registered participants to gather and socialize. Some of the sessions will be facilitated by local parenting experts. The meet-ups will rotate between the Timmins Public Library branches and EarlyON Centres. Please note that times, dates, and locations of the meet-ups will vary so please check the program
